A few notes about designing for print and other non-web media:

1. Good source material - Whenever possible, have good camera-ready artwork available. You'll save both time and money and the results will be far more professional. And when it comes to photos, Photoshop is a wonderful piece of software but it can never compare to professional photography.

2. Just say "no" to internet graphics - We get requests at least once per week to create print material from web graphics. The majority of the time this will simply not work. Print media uses a minimum of 300 pixels per inch resolution, while most computers use only 72. This means that web-based images are 4X too small to use without risking a large degree of pixelation and distortion.

3. Know your printer - Every printer and press is different and it's imperative to know precisely what specifications they require for your project. We typically need to know at least resolution, color mode, and file type before submitting completed designs to print. Contact your printer or press and ask them to email their specifications to us at

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you offer in-house printing?

A: We partner with several high-quality printers and presses to provide our clients materials with a professional look and feel at a reasonable price. Contact us via email or phone 503.488.5662 for more information.

Q: Can I use stock photography?

A: Of course! Multi-million dollar corporations do it, why can't you? While stock photography can't replace the expertise of a professional photographer taking pictures of your actual products or services, sometimes you need quality images quickly and affordably. Green Tangerine Media highly recommends iStockphoto for an extensive library of excellent stock photography.

Q: How can I ensure accurate color reproduction?

A: While most screen resolutions and calibrations will all show you something different, the best way to get the exact color you are looking for is to use spot colors or PMS colors. PMS stands for Pantone Matching System and allows us to match specific colors. There are thousands of color swatches to choose from so you can ensure you get exactly what you choose. Pantone colors are described by their number (Pantone 130 aka PMS 130) and most any printer can mix up the inks to give you that exact color.
